The Final Show of The Year
AWESOME.
Awesome. I'll predict it now - this album will see them go STRATOSPHERIC. The new stuff's harder edged, more aggressive, but at the same time, much more 'radio-friendly', but not in an obvious commercial way. Catchy as fuck, immensely danceable. The hooks are huge, and the move to 'no screaming' means it's a lot more accessible.
The performance was very special. The pipes as the band came on, the infinity land gasmask Simon wore as he came on...
The band were incredibly tight, and people were, remarkably, singing along to new songs by the end of each of them - always a good sign... The sound engineer was great and dead chatty, as I was standing next to him (i didn't bug him - he spoke to me!) - there was a brilliant moment when *something* happened half way through a song and he went "fuck knows what happened, but it just sounds better!" It did too - think it was maybe a guitar effects combo that hadn't been hit in soundcheck or something, but it rocked. The guy up singing did a brilliant job - nerves or not ( i know i'd have been cacking it), he was pretty spot on. :)

Thanks man, i was totally cacking, didnt really know how the crowd would take to me, but they were awesome once i was up there! Bit depressed now coz it doesn't really get much better than that, best 2 minutes and 24 seconds of my life! Just wondering if you have any pictures of me onstage with the band??

Wow up singing with The Biff, must have been insanely awesome!! You're a lucky man. Interesting song choice too ;).

I wish I did - they'd have been really good where I was standing at the sound desk, but the strict no-camera policy was enforced, and I didn't even try and get round it! :-) Biffy have been good to me, letting me take photos, so i wasn't about to even think about arguing with it, hehe. So no - I think some other folk might, but they were even turfing people out with camera phones, so who knows? :-) Good work though! Want to write a bit about it?

They were chucking out folk with camera phones aye? That's fucking harsh man.
Cracking night though from what I can remember.

Yeah totally saw some dude get chucked out. but to be fair, he seemed to be recording the new songs. hopefully they were deleted before he was evicted... why cant some people just play by the rules eh? tsk!
