Liquid Rooms, Edinburgh
One of the precursors to the '4 in a row' shows at King Tuts. Supported by Orko, who are celebrating the release of their first single, on Raskol Records, called 'Travel Plans'. This was one of the first opportunities that Scottish fans have had to hear the new material in a live setting.

Given the length of time it's actually been since the band played live, they were startingly tight - obviously all that practice before tours start (check out the Zane Lowe interview) pays off. The new material sounds rather good - particular interest comes in the form of 'Get fucked, Stud', and 'Semi-Mental', the two that I picked up on and got really into while they were being played - it's always a sign of a good song when you're trying to sing along on first listen.

There were a great many comments that the other, previously unheard song (Love has a diameter) sounded like Arcade Fire - I can't really comment on it, but it did have a nice sort of gallopy feel to it. Overall, the sound was as spot on as I've heard it, and the performance was pretty flawless. The band tend to vary quite a lot in terms of passion and technical performance live, but it was good to see that this was up there on both scores. Looking forward to hearing the rest of the new stuff next week at Tuts!
